Aim of the organization:
Residential care and rehabilitation of HIV/AIDS affected destitute/orphaned children and women.
Mission:
To enable children and women living with HIV, get a fair fighting chance to survive and overcome odds; to ensure their rights to food, clothing, health, shelter and education without social discrimination.
Goal:
Relief, care and rehabilitation of HIV positive and AIDS afflicted destitute/orphaned children and women.
Objectives:
The following objectives help in addressing and achieving the ultimate project goal:
- To provide residential care and support to destitute / orphaned children living with HIV.
- To provide medical care and treatment to HIV afflicted children, including ART.
- To provide formal education and vocational training for income generation.
- To provide special nutrition and diet.
- To provide support and care to women living with HIV.
- To provide primary health care to the neighborhood village community.
- To generate public awareness about HIV / AIDS.
Trustees:
Manavya trust was registered in 1997. There are well renowned trustees form different educational and social fields. Their inclusion on the trust was on the basic of their deep involvement in social work.
Dr. (Smt.) Arundhati Sardesai (Present President)
A well known educationalist and writer. She is on Board of several educational and research institutions (e.g. Bhandarkar Institute). At present she is the Director of Shivrai Pratishthan, D.Ed College. She is very active trustee, frequently visits Manavya and contributes for funding support. She delivers many talks on AIR Pune, varied public functions and written articles in Hindi, English and Marathi in journals & Magazines.
Smt. Ujwala Lawate (Managing Trustee & Vice President)
A professional Social Worker (M.S.W.) with 25 years of field experience. She was a President of Inner Wheel Club of Pune Metro & also served as Sub committee chairman medical projects Inner Wheel Dist 313 in the year 2003-2004. She devotes her full time and energy voluntarily for Manavya. Presently involved as a member of CAB.
Smt. Mrunalini Dhawale (Jt Managing Trustee)
She is a retired editor of Kesari daily newspaper. She is a writer and provides good publicity for Manavya.
Mr. Sanjeev Deo (Treasurer)
B. E. (Electronics & Telecommunication) Individual as well as one of the trustee in Sukyo Mahikari Public Trust.
Mr. Shireesh Lawate (Trustee)
He is a son of Founder President Late Mrs. Vijayatai Lawate. He is a mechanical engineer, member of many social clubs. He has many social contacts which are fruitful to Manavya. He has contributed in many ways for the growth of Manavya.
Dr. Sumit Pitkar (Trustee)
A Well known Pediatrician. He is associated with Manavya since 2002.
Dr. Abhay Sontakke (Trustee)
A well known Dentist. He is a member of Indian Academy of Aesthetic & Cosmetic Dentistry & also a member & Past President of rotary Club of Pune Metro. He is a member of Selection Committee for university of Pune Tennis Team.
Smt. Kalpana Sancheti ( Trustee)
A professional Social Worker (M. S. W.). She also participated some programs with Shobha Bhagwat in Balchitrawani & Akashwani. She was conducted training for Gokul children in Art, Craft etc.
